FULL SUSPENSION BMX

NEW BIKES FOR OLD BONES

Full suspension BMX could be the missing link between bicycle motocross and mountain biking, opening up endless opportunities to ride BMX where BMX couldn’t (or shouldn’t) go.

Inspired by Fingers Crossed, a project to build the perfect full suspension BMX founded by legends Ruben Alcantara and Garrett Byrnes, I converted a couple of my own frames and loved the outcome.

I thought the whole vibe of the project was awesome; it made me feel nostalgic for being a kid and fearlessly bombing down muddy hills and unmade paths, through forests and over old tree roots.

I see the appeal in full suspension BMX for the older riders who’ve retired their creaking bones, and the riders who don’t have days to spend grooming perfect dirt jumps for a couple of hours of riding before the rain starts. And also for the riders who always wished BMX was a bit more versatile and forgiving, but never wanted to be a MTB rider.

For a short time, Deathpack offered a full suspension BMX conversion service which included the fabrication work necessary for the frame to accept a full suspension set up, and the addition of bottom bracket, pivot bearings, spacers and disk brake mount. I am now focusing on the production of my own Silent Victory BMX frames and am not currently offering a full suspension conversion service.

Ruben and Garrett have confirmed that they are putting their full suspension BMX into production, and out of respect and support for their project Deathpack will also not be offering a full suspension BMX frame for the foreseeable future. Go watch their videos and follow them on Instagram, you’ll be just as stoked as I was.
